How to Refinish the Kitchen Cabinets
Sometimes you may get stuck with the old kitchen, especially with the kitchen cabinets. - Gather your supplies. It is easier to work with the empty cabinets, so gather your supplies and remove the parts of the cabinet, such as the cabinet doors, drawers, handles, etc. Before removing the kitchen cabinet’s body, label each part. The labels will help you to reassemble them again when you’re done with your work.
- Sand the cabinet body. Before you paint something, you need to sand it down thoroughly. In the first sanding process, you can use the electric hand sander with a heavier grit sandpaper. After finishing the first sanding, wipe all the dust particles, and then sand it again by using a finer sandpaper. By sanding the body, you will notice that your refinished kitchen cabinets will have a professional look without any drips and bubbles.
- Apply the stain. You can use a rag to apply the stain. Rub it into the wood, it will permeate the pores and make a deeper saturation. Remember, you need to decide the amount of stain that you want to apply. The stain that has been applied will be darken when it dries. You can also buy the blends that are combined with a polyurethane finish to protect the wood. Or you can buy the polyurethane finish separately.
Refinished kitchen cabinets will give you a fresh, new, and real-wood look. It cannot be done by paint them. Moreover the process is easy and convenient.
